Board clarifies full process for any new Highfields well variance

GRAFTON — After a previously approved well at Highfields Golf Course proved unviable, the course sought clarification on pursuing another location. Board Chair Jennifer Maynard outlined that any new variance requires a full application, public hearing, certified abutter notification, supporting hydrogeological documentation, and Board review of study results. Public comment from two residents, including a retired U.S.
Geological Survey hydrologist with 40 years of experience, raised concerns about hydrogeological risks to nearby private wells. The Board appointed Evan Brassard as alternate to the CMRD Advisory Board and reported 50 confirmed influenza cases in Grafton in January.
