Cable committee outlines five priorities for Verizon renewal

GRAFTON — The Grafton cable committee identifies five priorities for Verizon franchise renewal. The committee reviewed a comparison report of franchise agreements from other communities and identified five key negotiating priorities: securing the full 5 percent franchise fee, capital support for local PEG channels, converting all three public, educational, and government channels to high definition, strengthening line extension requirements for underserved areas, and ensuring Grafton receives most-favored-terms provisions. The committee agreed to share its report with the Town Administrator, though Verizon's franchise does not expire until October 2028.
Committee Clerk Corson Wyman announced he will retire in July and will not seek reappointment.
