Finance Committee recommends FY27 override as municipal budget faces $1.5M gap

Grafton Finance Committee votes 8-0 to recommend FY27 ballot override for budget deficit. The committee voted unanimously to recommend that the Select Board place an override before voters to address a $1,484,568 municipal budget gap. Superintendent Jay Cummings presented preliminary FY27 school reduction plans, with the schools expecting $49.3 million to $49.5 million in funding and 14 staff positions under consideration for cuts.

Town Administrator Evan Brassard outlined $425,000 in necessary municipal reductions, primarily through 5.5 full-time equivalent position cuts, as health insurance costs face a 10 percent increase. The committee also approved a $31,000 reserve fund transfer for structural repairs at Fire Station 3.
