Grafton Seeks Volunteers For New Community Liaison Program

Grafton is recruiting volunteer "Community Liaisons" to connect residents with town resources and advocate for community needs, officials announced this week, the most notable of several town updates as residents prepare for the Sept. 1 state primary and the Aug. 26 start of school.

TOWN HALL

The town is looking for residents "passionate about connecting with members of your community and advocating for community needs" to serve as volunteer Community Liaisons, according to a notice posted on the town website. Details on the scope of the role and how to apply were included in the town's announcement.

The Select Board is also collecting resident feedback before sending a list of federal earmark priorities to Congressman McGovern's office. Residents can weigh in through a town survey and select up to three priorities, or submit their own suggestions.

The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project is scheduled to spray in Grafton on Thursday and again Aug. 27, weather permitting, continuing a summer schedule that also included spraying dates earlier this month. In-person early voting for the State Primary Election opens Saturday at the Municipal Center Gymnasium, 30 Providence Road, a new detail on a voting window the town has been publicizing ahead of the Aug. 25 mail-ballot deadline.

SCHOOLS

Grafton Public Schools has opened Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year, inviting parents, guardians and other caregivers to register incoming students through the district website ahead of the Aug. 26 first day of classes.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Grafton Public Library's Children's Room was closed Aug. 18 and 19, though the library kept space open in the Community Room for free play and browsing during the closure.
