Grafton Conservation Commission issues wetland orders for Fisherville Pond and 81 Milbury Street. The commission, meeting remotely June 10 with Chair Sandy Brock and members Travis and Noah present, closed both hearings unanimously and issued orders of conditions in back-to-back 3-0 roll call votes. The five-year Fisherville Pond order, presented by Joe Breckman of GEI, covers herbicide treatment and hand harvesting of aquatic invasives and requires advance public notice of treatment dates, limits treatment to open water only, and mandates 30 percent native aquatic plant coverage, conditions shaped in part by DEP comments tied to the pond's location within two municipal Zone 2 wellhead protection areas.
The 81 Milbury Street restoration order, handled by Matt Morrow of Morrow Environmental Consulting, carries monitoring requirements through three growing seasons and a hard limit on equipment use in the resource area, with the specific machines needing pre-approval from Conservation Agent Leah before any work begins. A geothermal trench notice of intent at 66 Brigham Hill Road was continued to June 23 after the commission flagged a missing floodplain contour, absent stormwater bylaw materials, and unresolved questions about excavation depth near the 25-foot no-disturb zone, a project with 96,800 square feet of total disturbance that triggers the town's stormwater bylaw.
