Grafton Raises Pay-As-You-Throw Bag Prices To Cover Trash Costs

GRAFTON — Grafton has adjusted pricing on its Pay-As-You-Throw trash bags, a change town officials say is meant to fund solid waste operations entirely through user fees rather than property taxes, according to a notice posted this week on the town's website.

TOWN HALL The PAYT bag pricing adjustment took effect July 1, according to the town, which said the change is intended to close the gap between what residents pay to dispose of trash and what it costs Grafton to run the program, reducing reliance on tax dollars to subsidize the service.

Meeting schedules also shifted this week: the Planning Board's Monday, July 27 session was revised, and the Conservation Commission's Tuesday, July 28 meeting was cancelled outright, according to the town's online calendar.

SCHOOLS Grafton Public Schools' School Committee Budget Subcommittee meeting, set for Thursday, July 30, has been amended, according to the district calendar. The change comes as the district continues to process Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year, which opened earlier this summer.
