School Committee · Meeting of June 10, 2026

Grafton School Committee wraps school year with unanimous approval of 3% staff raise, new subcommittee, and five policies. The committee voted unanimously at its June 10 meeting to approve a 3 percent cost-of-living increase for all non-bargaining-unit employees for fiscal year 2026-27, matching the COLA received by the district's four unions and already included in the approved budget. The committee also established a communications subcommittee, nominating Chair Liora Bram and Vice Chair Laura Often, aimed at improving public visibility into the board's work following the recent override campaign.

Five policies advanced, including a second read of JFBB School Choice and JLCD Administering Medicines to Students, and a first read of JKA Physical Restraint of Students. The meeting's centerpiece was a presentation by the district's cross-functional AI task force, which reported that 54.9 percent of surveyed families rate student data privacy a top concern and that 44.1 percent of educators report low familiarity with district AI expectations; the task force introduced a "stoplight model" for classroom AI use targeting 100 percent adoption in secondary schools by April 2027. Superintendent Jay Cummings reported seven retirements and announced that Laura Cahill, currently HR director in Worcester Public Schools, will join the district July 1.
