Grafton Seeks Volunteers for New Common Traffic Study Committee
GRAFTON — The town is recruiting residents to join a new committee that will draw up a strategic plan for traffic and safety changes around Grafton Common, even as officials confirmed August mosquito-spraying dates and the school district opened kindergarten registration for next year.

Grafton officials this week put out a call for volunteers to serve on the newly formed Grafton Common Traffic Study Committee, which will be responsible for developing a strategic plan for traffic changes and improvements at the Common, according to the town. Residents interested in shaping how vehicles and pedestrians move through the town's historic center can apply through the town's website.
Separately, the town confirmed that the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project will spray in Grafton on four dates in August — the 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th — in response to resident concerns, though the schedule remains tentative and subject to change due to weather.
SCHOOLS
Grafton Public Schools, led by Superintendent Dr. James Cummings, has opened kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year, inviting parents and guardians of incoming kindergartners to register through the district. The district also continues to flag facilities concerns, pointing families and residents to its capital plan and roofing-needs reports for Grafton Middle School as it plans for building maintenance in the years ahead.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Grafton Public Library's summer reading program, "Plant a Seed — Read!," remains underway for patrons of all ages, alongside the Massachusetts Center for the Book's July reading challenge for the month. The library also continues its weekly drop-in cribbage sessions, open to anyone who wants to play a few hands without fear of getting skunked.
COMING UP
The Board of Sewer Commissioners and an amended School Committee both meet Wednesday, July 22, while the Grafton Farmers Market returns to the Common the same day. Thursday, July 23 brings a busy civic slate: the Community Preservation Committee, the Board of Library Trustees' Policy Subcommittee, and the Charter Review Committee's Article 4 Subcommittee are all scheduled to meet. On Saturday, July 25, the town holds its Electronics Recycling Event alongside a separate bicycle recycling day.
