Grafton Planning Board Sets Deadline Meetings to Vote on Court-Ordered Brigardi Village Approval

Planning Board · Meeting of June 10, 2026

Grafton Planning Board races to meet June 18 court deadline on long-contested Brigardi Village multifamily project. A May 20 land court remand judgment requires the board to issue a new special permit approval within 30 days, with the effective deadline falling on Thursday, June 18 because the clerk's office is closed for Juneteenth on June 19. At a two-hour special session Wednesday, Chair Gregory Dalle-Molle led the board through four contested draft conditions, with Town Counsel and Director of Planning and Community Development Christian D'Emilia flagging peer review inspection fees, a performance guarantee for asphalt top coat, erosion control discretion, and construction parking on neighboring properties as the most contentious items.

Applicant's attorney Brian Grossman of Strang Scott and Giroux said his client "just wants to get this done" and offered to accept reasonable inspection fee language. Member Robert Hassinger expressed sharp frustration with the compressed timeline, saying "I'm totally unhappy with the process," and indicated he intends to vote against the decision. The board set a primary follow-up meeting for Tuesday, June 16 at 7 p.m. and a backup for Wednesday, June 17, both hybrid, with a revised draft due from counsel by Monday morning.
