Grafton Select Board Approves $5M Override, 3-2
Select Board · Meeting of March 13, 2026
Grafton Select Board votes 3-2 to send a $5 million override to voters. Chair Andrew Jefferson joined members Matt Offen and Mark Alamo in backing the five-year Proposition 2½ override, Grafton's third since 2014, after Offen scaled his original motion down from $5.7 million. Craig Dauphinais and Ann Marie Foley voted no for opposite reasons: Dauphinais called $5 million "too much" and said it "won't change any behavior," while Foley warned anything under roughly $5.6 million over five years means "planning on cuts." Foley cited about 40 resident emails favoring level services in the prior three days, roughly a 10-to-1 ratio.
Schools cut six positions and $600,000 last year. Town Administrator Evan pegged the cost near $150 a year per household. The question heads to annual town meeting, then the spring ballot.
