Grafton School Committee OKs Override Data Request

School Committee · Meeting of March 24, 2026

Grafton School Committee presses state senator on funding, flags career-pathways drop. Chair Liora Bram confirmed a meeting with state Sen. Moore for the Massachusetts Association of School Committees' "Day on the Hill," saying state aid "is not trickling down" to Grafton, and asked colleagues to push harder on a proposed $5 million, five-year override.

Director of Teaching and Learning Jen Manning reported 24.8 percent chronic absenteeism and a career-pathways enrollment slide from 45 students to 21, plus the possible loss of two curriculum positions. Grafton Middle School leaders touted a Best Buddies chapter with 26 members, a Nova Bio Club with a 50-student waitlist, and nearly $13,000 in trip scholarships. The committee unanimously approved long-overdue March 2025 budget hearing minutes and named Bram to a new town citizen-award panel.
