School Committee approves $50.5 million bare-bones budget, seeks override
School Committee - Grafton Public Schools · Meeting of February 24, 2026
Grafton School Committee approves $50.5M level-service budget, seeks ballot override. The panel voted 4-1 to adopt the fiscal 2027 operating budget totaling $50,485,513.05, a 6.2 percent increase driven primarily by salary costs and out-of-district tuition, with no restoration of prior-year personnel cuts or new positions. Superintendent James Cummings described the plan as bare-bones maintenance of current service levels.
Committee member Kristy Kielbasinski cast the sole dissent, challenging budget methodology. The committee voted unanimously to request that the Select Board place a potential override on the spring ballot.
