School Committee considers $1M in budget cuts if override fails.

School Committee - Grafton Public Schools · Meeting of April 7, 2026

Grafton School Committee hears plan for $1M in cuts without override passage. Superintendent James Cummings presented a reduction budget totaling approximately $1,004,000 that would eliminate 12.5 positions, including eight middle school sports teams, two Spanish teaching positions, one music teacher, instrumental teachers at both elementary schools, and one classroom teacher each at grades four, five, and six. The committee discussed the plan without taking a formal vote.

Cummings noted that Grafton spends in the bottom 4 percent of Massachusetts school districts by per-pupil spending, ranking 12th from the bottom among 320 districts.
