School Committee backs School Choice amid $1.1M budget shortfall
School Committee - Grafton Public Schools · Meeting of March 10, 2026
Grafton School Committee votes to maintain School Choice Program despite $1.1 million budget deficit. Member Kristy Kielbasinski moved unanimously to continue the program for 2026-2027, which currently serves 128 out-of-district students and provides crucial revenue. Superintendent James Cummings reported the district receives the lowest state aid in Massachusetts, gaining only $233,000 additional funding for FY27.
Without an operational override, the district will face staff reductions and increased class sizes, with a reduction budget to be presented to the committee on April 7.
